Johnny Willis joined PowerGEM as a Principal Consultant in 2001. He works primarily in the consulting services area, providing technical analysis in system planning and transmission expansion. He has performed numerous studies that involved new plant interconnections, power uprates, and efficient operation of existing power plants. He conducts power flow, short circuit, and stability analysis.

Prior to joining PowerGEM, Mr. Willis was an engineer and engineering manager at Power Technologies, Inc. (PTI) for fourteen years. At PTI, he was involved in many power system studies, and traveled extensively internationally for projects involving system studies, and more often, training of engineers in the use of PTI software and its applications. He participated in field tests at a number of power plants domestically and abroad to improve generator, excitation system, and governor models, as well as application and tuning of power system stabilizers. Prior to PTI, Mr. Willis was in the System Planning department at Consumers Power in Michigan for five years, and was also an engineer for five years at Rust Engineering, a major architect/engineer firm in Birmingham, Alabama.

Mr. Willis is a co-author of fifteen technical papers. He has B.E. and M.S.E. degrees from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, and the degree of Electrical Engineer from the University of Michigan.
